Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is going to launch the DIPAM-2 scheme in Srikakulam on November 1, which aims to provide three free LPG cylinders annually to eligible women across the state. The initiative is a major promise under the Super Six promises made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its allies ahead of the recent elections. The announcement was made on Wednesday after Naidu handed over a subsidy check of Rs 894 crore to petroleum companies for their requirements for the current month.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the funds will be transferred directly to companies including Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation. Booking of free gas cylinders under the DIPAM-2 scheme began on Tuesday, ensuring that beneficiaries can start availing the benefits from November 1. Under DIPAM-2, every eligible family will get three gas cylinders every year. The scheme will be implemented at an interval of four months to ensure continuous supply.
The state government has allocated Rs 2,684 crore annually to sustain this initiative, with the required funds to be released in phases as required. The price of a gas cylinder of Rs 876, from which the Central Government subsidy of Rs 25 will be deducted, will be credited to the individual account of each beneficiary within 48 hours of booking. During the announcement, Naidu emphasized that this initiative is the first of six key promises being implemented by the coalition government.

Other promises include Rs 15,000 annually to every school going child, Rs 1,500 every month to every woman aged 18-59 years, free bus travel for women, Rs 3,000 monthly unemployment allowance and Rs 20,000 annually to farmers under the Thalliki Vandhanam scheme. Includes financial assistance of Rs. Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar expressed his support for the initiative with the beneficiaries of the DIPAM scheme at the State Secretariat.
