Sources said that based on the instructions of the Home Ministry, the anti-terrorism unit force will be deployed in the city. Sources also said that the NSG Special Task Force will be permanently deployed in Jammu city so that they can reach any place in case of any emergency or terrorist attack.
Jammu region includes the districts of Jammu, Doda, Kathua, Ramban, Reasi, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur and Samba. This year, the Jammu region has seen a significant increase in terrorist attacks, affecting eight out of 10 districts, and 44 people have been killed in such incidents, including 18 security personnel, 14 civilians and 13 terrorists.

The Rajouri-Poonch belt, which had seen a significant decline in terrorist activities in the last decade, has again become the epicenter of terrorist attacks. Since October 2021, there have been deadly attacks targeting army vehicles in the region, resulting in the death of over 100 people, including 47 security personnel, 48 terrorists and seven civilians. The Army, Police and Central Armed Police Forces have intensified their operations to counter the growing terrorist threat. These include sustained anti-terrorist operations in sensitive areas, especially dense forests, and increased night patrolling in border villages to prevent cross-border infiltration.
