The air of the national capital Delhi has remained poisonous for the last several days. Even breathing has become difficult for the common people in Delhi. The quality of Delhi has remained poor for the past several days. A decline in air quality is being recorded. However, on Wednesday 20 November, improvement in air quality was seen in Delhi. The air quality in Delhi fell below 500 on Wednesday. The air quality which was till now in the severe plus category has now come in the severe category.
A thin blanket of fog remained in the national capital on Wednesday morning as well, reducing visibility. Air quality index reached low level. The air quality index remained in the ‘very poor’ category continuously for the last two days. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality index (AQI) in the national capital was recorded at 424 at 9 am today, placing it in the ‘severe’ category.
Visuals taken from near India Gate show people taking their daily morning walks, while others are seen jogging on the duty path amid the smog-laden atmosphere. Meanwhile, train movement continued amid smog in Delhi. Pictures received from New Delhi Railway Station show a layer of fog in the area.
Impact on train operations
Railways said that due to fog, 13 trains are running late and timings of 9 trains have been changed. Pollution levels remain high, with thick layers of toxic foam floating in parts of the river near Kalindi Kunj and Okhla Barrage. Drone footage of the toxic foam captured vast expanses of foam filled with toxins, highlighting its widespread coverage and the environmental impact it is causing in the region.
