Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant apologized for his imported goods remarks against Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC and said she was being deliberately targeted. Addressing the media in Mumbai today, Sawant said he would never insult any woman and said his statements were being interpreted differently. In his statement he said that some allegations are being made against me for the last few days. A complaint has been lodged against me in this regard. We will never insult women.
The UBT MP further said that such an atmosphere is being created that I have insulted a woman, I have never done this in my life. One of my statements was given a different meaning. If my statement has hurt anyone’s sentiments, I apologize. He said that I am being targeted by deliberately giving a different meaning, I am saddened by this but still if my statement has hurt someone’s sentiments then I express my regret. Respect for women in the country cannot be seen on the basis of party.
Earlier today, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC strongly condemned Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant’s imported goods comment, saying objectification of women, and insulting the modesty of women is no small problem. Speaking to the media, Shiv Sena leader Shaina said that an FIR has been registered at Nagpada police station under sections 79 and 356 (2) for outraging the dignity of women. Election Commission and Women Commission have also taken cognizance. This is a fight for the respect of women. Objectification of women and hurting the dignity of women is not a small problem. The truth will be in front of everyone in the video but this mentality and distorted mentality is visible.
