Winter continues to rage in North India. While the minimum temperature has gone several degrees below zero in many parts of Kashmir, the cold has increased in the country’s capital Delhi too. Along with cold, the attack of dense fog and pollution is also being seen in Delhi-NCR, due to which the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of dense fog for the next 2 days. According to the department, there is a possibility of smog and dense fog at some places today, in such a situation the minimum temperature will be around 6 to 7 degrees Celsius. At the same time, there is a possibility of increase in cold during night time, due to which people have been advised to stay in homes.
Now the temperature will drop rapidly
The effect of snowfall in the mountains is being seen in the plains where fog is spreading as the temperature falls and people are resorting to bonfires to escape the cold. The Meteorological Department has warned of severe cold wave in 4 districts of Himachal Pradesh till Saturday. Apart from this, an alert has been issued in view of the severe cold in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and many states.
There will be shivering cold in North India
- According to IMD, there is going to be severe cold with dense fog in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab for the next 2-3 days.
- Frost is also expected in some areas of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
- So there is a possibility of temperature going to minus in many cities of Rajasthan also.
- In such a situation, visibility will reduce due to fog and cold will increase.
- On the other hand, IMD has predicted light rain in some parts of Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu.
Chance of snowfall in the mountains
If we talk about the hilly states of Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, here too the minimum temperature has dropped rapidly due to increasing cold. In view of the cold wave continuing in the lower hilly and plain areas of Himachal, the Meteorological Department has-
- There is a warning of severe cold wave in 4 out of 12 districts of the state till Saturday.
- The department has issued an orange alert of severe cold wave at some places in the lower hilly areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Mandi districts.
- A yellow alert has been issued for cold wave to continue till Saturday in Chamba and Kangra.
- Light snowfall is expected in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.
- There is a possibility of cold wave at many places in the valley for the next three days.
The harsh weather of winter is making people shiver in North and Eastern India, hence after all the alerts, people are being appealed to be careful.
