The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday took strict action against Maharashtra probationary IAS officer Pooja Khedkar and registered an FIR against her for appearing in the civil services examination through fake identity card. Along with this, the commission has also issued a show cause notice to cancel her candidature for the Civil Services Examination-2022 and bar her from appearing in future examinations.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) 2023 batch officer Pooja Khedkar was recently accused of misusing privileges during her training in Pune and using fake certificates to get selected in the civil service. Khedkar, who has been in the news for the last several days, was called back to the Mussoorie Academy two days ago after cancelling her training.

In this entire matter, the Commission said in an official statement today, “UPSC has initiated a series of actions against him, including criminal prosecution by lodging an FIR with police authorities and issuing a Show Cause Notice (SCN) to cancel his candidature for Civil Services Examination-2022/bar him from future examinations.”

The commission further said, “UPSC has conducted a detailed and in-depth investigation in respect of Pooja Manorama Dilip Khedkar, a candidate selected for the Civil Services Examination-2022.” It said that the investigation revealed that Khedkar had concealed her identity by changing her name, her parents' name, her photograph/signature, her email ID, mobile number and address and availed more attempts than the permissible limit under the examination rules. According to the statement, UPSC has initiated several actions against Khedkar including filing a police FIR and criminal prosecution.
