Eknath Shinde government of Maharashtra has taken two important decisions in the state cabinet meeting. Light motor vehicle tax has been waived off at five toll points in Mumbai. This decision will come into effect from 12 midnight on Monday (14 October). Along with this, it has been decided to change the name of Maharashtra Skill Development University. This university will now be known by the name of Ratan Tata. The Light Motor Vehicle category includes cars, bikes, autos, vans, pickups and mini trucks.
Minister in Maharashtra Government, Dada Bhuse said, “An important decision has been taken today in the Cabinet meeting of Maharashtra Government. Light vehicle toll has been waived at five toll points of Mumbai (Vashi, Airoli, Mulund, Thane, Dahisar). These tolls have been waived. A fee of Rs 45 and Rs 75 was applicable till 2026. Of these, about 70 thousand were heavy vehicles and this decision was applicable from 12 midnight. About 2 lakh 80 thousand cars or smaller vehicles will be benefited from this toll waiver. There was a long standing demand of the people to waive the toll and keeping in mind the demand of the people, the government has decided to waive the toll.
Honor to Ratan Tata
Maharashtra government has taken a big decision in honor of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata. Maharashtra Skill Development University will now be known as Ratan Tata. After the death of Ratan Tata, the Maharashtra government also conducted his last rites with state honours. Late Ratan Tata passed away on October 9 (Wednesday). He was 86 years old. Ratan Tata spent his entire life in improving the country and giving a new identity to India. For this reason, after his death, this decision has been taken in his memory.
Important decision before elections
Elections are to be completed in Maharashtra next month. In such a situation, the Election Commission can announce the election dates soon. There are speculations that today (October 14, Monday) the Election Commission can hold a press conference and announce elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Just before this, Shinde government has taken this important decision. The tenure of the current government of Maharashtra is ending on 26th November and the Election Commission says that the elections in the state will be completed before that.
