The election campaign of political parties for the assembly elections in Maharashtra has almost reached its final stage. The main contest in the state is being considered between Mahayuti alliance and Maha Vikas Aghadi. Voting will be conducted in the state in a single phase on November 20. Counting of votes will take place along with Jharkhand on 23 November. To further strengthen its preparations, the Bharatiya Janata Party has declared its strong leader Gopichand Kundlik Padalkar as the candidate for the Jat assembly seat of the state.
Introduction of Gopichand Padalkar
Gopichand Kundlik Padalkar was born on 1 October 1982 in Maharashtra. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Along with this, Padalkar is also a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council. He was elected to the Legislative Council by MLA (unopposed) on 14 May 2020. Earlier he was with Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, he started his political career from Rashtriya Samaj Party. He re-joined the BJP ahead of the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections. BJP leader Padalkar is also a film producer and actor.
early life
He was born to Kundalik and Hiramai Padalkar of Padalkarwadi in Sangli district. His father Kundalik Padalkar was a primary teacher. Gopichand Padalkar belongs to the Indian community of Maharashtra. He is a graduate from higher secondary school. He started his political career from Mahadev Jankar Rashtriya Samaj Party. Before being elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Council, he had contested the Zilla Parishad elections once, thrice for the Legislative Assembly and once for the Lok Sabha, but had to face defeat.
In 2014 he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and contested the 2014 assembly elections from the Atpadi-Khanpur constituency, later he left the party and he joined the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi in the summer of 2019, contesting from the Sangli Lok Sabha seat. As a losing candidate, he gave a tough fight, securing more than three lakh votes. After his defeat he again joined BJP in October 2019 and contested the assembly elections from Baramati against Ajit Pawar. He was elected to the Legislative Council (unopposed) along with 9 other MLAs on 14 May 2020.
