BJP targets AAP on increase in air pollution, calls it failure of Delhi government
Bharatiya Janata Party has made a big claim on Friday. According to BJP, Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kedriwal are basically behind the deteriorating air quality of Delhi and the problems being faced by the general public. The increased pollution in Delhi is the result of the failure of AAP party.
Pollution is also continuously increasing due to damaged roads in Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta also visited Shastri Park on Friday itself. He claimed that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his successor Atishi had promised to repair the roads even before Diwali. Despite this, the roads in the city are in a bad condition. Vijendra Gupta said AAP should stop politics and blame game and focus on local sources of pollution like dust, which are more responsible for the hazardous air quality in Delhi.
He said the air pollution situation in Delhi is as bad now as it was before Diwali and said AAP and Kejriwal should stop “misleading” people. Gupta alleged that the increase in pollution is This happened due to firecrackers, and politics is being done on this issue. He said, “If all the damaged roads in the city are repaired and the sanitation system is improved, pollution can be reduced by 50 percent.” BJP’s Delhi unit spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor claimed. That the comparative Air Quality Index (AQI) data of the last four days will show that the pollution level has not increased due to firecrackers. He said that it will increase in the coming days due to local sources and stubble burning. There was a thick blanket of smog in Delhi on Friday and the air quality index (AQI) of the national capital reached 362. During Diwali, people violated the ban on firecrackers all over Delhi. Delhi recorded the most polluted Diwali this year in the last three years.
Pollution increased in Delhi
According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Delhi’s 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) on Diwali on Thursday was recorded at 330, while it was 218 in 2023 and 312 in 2022. The AQI of the national capital was recorded at 362 i.e. ‘very poor’ category at 9 am on Friday. AQI between zero and 50 is ‘good’, 51 to 100 is ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 is ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 is ‘poor’, 301 to 400 is ‘very poor’, An AQI between 401 and 450 is considered ‘severe’ and above 450 is considered ‘very severe’.
