Jammu . Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit president Ravindra Raina honored the newly elected party MLAs here and said that the Leader of Opposition will be elected after a meeting of party leaders led by central observers. BJP national general secretary and in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir Tarun Chugh has been appointed central observer by the party. He said that after a meeting with the newly elected MLAs and other leaders on this issue, a report will be submitted to the central leaders for further action. Under the leadership of Raina, many senior BJP leaders honored the newly elected MLAs by covering them with chunari and presenting flowers.
Leaders who honored the MLAs included former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, MP Jugal Kishore and party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit working president Satpal Sharma. Raina said, “In the coming days, BJP will hold meetings of leaders and elected members under the leadership of central observers Pralhad Joshi and Tarun Chugh. The future strategy of the party in Jammu and Kashmir will also be discussed.” On the election of the leader of the opposition in the Assembly, he said that this process will start soon. “The constitutional process will be followed,” Chugh told reporters.
Raina said that assembly elections have been held in the Union Territory and President’s rule has been lifted. He said, “BJP performed well in the elections. I congratulate all the MLAs.” Thanking the people of the Union Territory, especially the Jammu region, Raina said, ”People enthusiastically voted and supported the BJP in this election and 29 MLAs were elected. Chose. We got about 26 percent votes. I thank the people for their support.” Calling it the BJP’s best performance in Jammu and Kashmir in terms of vote percentage and number of seats, he said, ”I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, among others.
