Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary concluded a two-day visit to Kolkata with a focus on enhancing border management amid the ongoing political tension between BJP and TMC over illegal infiltration along the India-Bangladesh border. During his visit, DG Choudhary participated in the inauguration of a new passenger terminal at ICP Petrapole led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The objective of the visit was to review critical border infrastructure projects including upgraded border posts (BOPs), upgraded fencing and dedicated border roads, which are essential to improve security measures.
Chaudhary held discussions with the West Bengal Chief Secretary, senior state officials and representatives of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to meet the land acquisition needs for these projects. He stressed that such infrastructure improvements are important to strengthen border security and build confidence among local residents.
The Director General also reviewed the operational preparedness of BSF at FTR Headquarters in Rajarhat, meeting with officers and jawans to boost morale and reaffirm the role of BSF in national security and prevention of cross-border crime. The visit is taking place amid a heated political debate, as BJP leaders including Amit Shah have accused the TMC government of encouraging illegal infiltration.
