On Jharkhand Cabinet expansion, Congress leader Rajesh Thakur said that it is a tradition that the central leadership finalizes the names and sends them to the CM, who then sends them to the Governor. After that the oath taking ceremony takes place.

Ten ministers, including two women MLAs, are likely to take oath in the 12-member Jharkhand cabinet on Thursday. Government officials said the swearing-in ceremony has been scheduled at 12.30 pm at Raj Bhavan in the state capital. A Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader said it was too early to say who would actually take oath (on Thursday), but a total of 10 ministers – two of whom would be women MLAs – were likely to be inducted. JMM sources said that the twelfth seat in the Council of Ministers is likely to remain vacant.

On Jharkhand Cabinet expansion, Congress leader Rajesh Thakur said that it is a tradition that the central leadership finalizes the names and sends them to the CM, who then sends them to the Governor. After that the oath taking ceremony takes place. The date of the swearing-in ceremony has already been decided. The names will be announced soon and I am sure that those who will be made MLAs will be informed by tonight. JMM MP Mahua Maji said that everyone will try to ensure that every section gets representation. Everyone will fulfill Hemant Soren’s dream of making the state a developed state.

JMM won 34 of the 81 assembly seats in the state, while BJP won 21, Congress 16, Rashtriya Janata Dal four and CPI (ML) two. Others like National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ally All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party and JD(U) as well as Jairam Mahato-led Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha got one seat each. According to a senior Congress leader, the cabinet was sure to be formed as per the already decided formula of one cabinet post for every four MLAs, which would give it a claim on four seats in the Council of Ministers and RJD on one seat. CPI(ML) has announced that it will support the JMM-majority government but will not stake claim to ministerial berths.
