Preliminary investigation indicated a financial dispute with a shop owner. The DCP said the boy was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Mumbai on Tuesday and sent to four-day custody.

Mumbai Police has detained a 17-year-old boy from Chhattisgarh for making a fake threat about bombs being planted in three planes through a social media post on October 14. A senior official gave this information on Wednesday.

Prima facie it appears that after a financial dispute with a shopkeeper the boy created a social media account on ‘X’ and made these posts. Mumbai Police has registered three separate FIRs in connection with fake bomb threats issued to various airlines on Monday and Tuesday, the official said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 8) Manish Kalvaniya clarified that the minor was not involved in issuing the threat messages on Tuesday. The Class 11 student allegedly made three posts from Chhattisgarh on Monday threatening to bomb planes, the police officer said.

He said preliminary investigation indicated a financial dispute with a shop owner. The DCP said the boy was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Mumbai on Tuesday and sent to four-day custody.
