After about 4 years, the situation seems to be normalizing between India and China. Both the countries have made a major agreement to reduce the ongoing tension in Eastern Ladakh. Under this agreement, the armies of both the countries will go back to the situation of the year 2020 and disengagement will be done on the border. Now the effect of this agreement between India and China is beginning to be seen on the ground. According to the information, 50 percent disengagement has been completed so far in Demchok and Depsang of Eastern Ladakh. Armies have been withdrawn from both the countries.

Possibility of patrolling from Diwali

According to the information received so far, disengagement between the armies of India and China in Demchok and Depsang will be completed by 28-29 October. It is believed that patrolling may start in Depsang and Demchok from Diwali. For example, in different areas of Demchok and Depsang, soldiers will go to a distance of 2 to 10 km.

Both the countries will tell each other’s commanders the number of soldiers during patrolling. Will talk on hotline. Complete information and timing of long range patrolling and short range patrolling will be told to each other so that trust can be built. This can happen twice or more in a month. Both countries have reached fifty percent of their troops as per the pre-April 2020 status and are still bringing in more.

Both the countries will also talk to each other at the local level. After removing the tents and moving their forward base back from Dame Chowk and Depsang, this distance will be a limited distance. For example, at some places it may be two kilometers or even more. Both the countries will monitor each other through different technical means and will follow the mutual understanding between the two. The number of soldiers in both these areas has been reduced and they have been moved back on both sides.
