A clash broke out during the immersion procession of the idol of Goddess Kali on Sunday night in Cuttack, Odisha. There is news of 6 people being injured in this incident. The clash started after a dispute between two groups in Chandni Chowk area of the city. Police said on Monday that the situation worsened when people from both the groups started throwing stones and bottles at each other.
Police said that a shop and three bikes were vandalized during the incident. The injured have been admitted to the local hospital. An official said that Lalbagh police has registered the case and started investigation.
Policeman attacked during idol immersion in Agra
At the same time, two people were arrested for attacking a policeman during idol immersion in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. A police officer gave this information on Tuesday. The official said that during the immersion of idols at Samogar Ghat on Sunday, Biseribhad outpost in-charge Mukesh Kumar was attacked by some people, in which he was seriously injured. He told that the incident took place when during the immersion, two people forcefully broke the barriers towards Yamuna river to immerse the idol.
The officer said Kumar stopped them, upon which the accused became enraged and attacked him. He told that in the attack the policeman was knocked down and beaten and his uniform was also torn. However, the policemen and people present there freed him from the clutches of the attackers. Police station incharge Bamrauli Katara Saurabh Singh said that in this case, legal action is being taken by registering a case against two accused Virendra and Rakesh. He told that the accused are residents of Shyamo village of Tajganj police station area. (Language)
