Prime Minister Narendra Modi was embarrassed on Wednesday when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tried to touch his feet during a rally in Darbhanga. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Bihar on Wednesday to inaugurate, lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation several development projects worth about Rs 12,100 crore. In a unique initiative, Modi also dedicated 18 Jan Aushadhi Kendras at railway stations across the country.

CM Nitish Kumar also came on stage and thanked the Prime Minister for the Centre’s cooperation in the development of Bihar. After completing his speech the CM was seen moving towards the PM, when he tried to touch his speech, the embarrassed PM immediately stopped the CM. Earlier, during the NDA parliamentary party in June, Nitish Kumar had tried to touch the PM’s feet, however, the PM opposed him and shook hands with the Bihar Chief Minister.
Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that his government at the Center and Nitish Kumar’s government in Bihar are working together to fulfill every dream of this state. He also said here that Nitish Kumar brought good governance in Bihar and ended ‘Jungle Raj’. On this occasion, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth Rs 12,100 crore in the state. In the presence of Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Modi said, “The model of good governance that has been developed in Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Babu is amazing. His role in liberating Bihar from ‘Jungle Raj’ cannot be appreciated enough.”

Modi alleged that the governments before Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Bihar were never concerned about the health infrastructure and had made false promises to the people, but after Nitish Kumar came to power, the situation in the state improved. The Prime Minister said that the ‘double engine’ government of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is committed to accelerate development in Bihar. He said that the rapid development of Bihar is going to be possible only through better infrastructure and encouragement to small farmers and small industries here and the NDA government is working on this ‘roadmap’.
