Jarnail Singh Aam Aadmi Party He is a leader and MLA. He was elected to the Fifth Legislative Assembly of Delhi in 2013, Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi in 2015 and Seventh Legislative Assembly of Delhi in 2020. He has been a three-time representative from Tilak Nagar constituency. In 2011, when Arvind Kejriwal along with several other activists along with Anna Hazare formed the group India Against Corruption, it caught Singh’s attention and he started participating in the movement. Due to which his interest in social activism was awakened.

MLA Jarnail Singh was born on 15 March 1981 in Rampur. His father Harbhajan Singh, a farmer who is now a businessman, and his mother Surjit Kaur brought him up in Delhi. Singh completed his education till 12th class. In the year 2006, he became the General Secretary of the Water Purification and Treatment Equipment Manufacturers Association. In the year 2010, he married Sukhjeet Kaur. Presently he is posted as the Chairman of WAPTEMA.
Early life and education
Jarnail Singh, coming from a middle class family, was born on 15 March 1981 in Rampur. He was brought up in Delhi by his parents Harbhajan Singh, a farmer-turned-businessman, and Surjeet Kaur. Singh completed his education till 12th class. Due to the responsibility of supporting his family, Singh started working as a full-time technician in an air conditioner workshop soon after completing his schooling.
livelihood
After working as an AC technician for three years from the age of 15 to 18, Singh took up the role of a salesman in a vacuum cleaner company. Who was responsible for door-to-door publicity and sales. This experience honed his soft skills and earned him a reputation as a polite and friendly person.
water purification industry
Jarnail Singh entered the water purification industry early in his career. He started his journey in the industry as an RO system technician and did door-to-door installation and service of RO systems. With hard work and dedication over time he established a private limited company and started RO system manufacturing unit in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. With excellent performance in the manufacturing business, Singh made a good name for himself in the industry and in 2006 he became the General Secretary of Water Purification and Treatment Equipment Manufacturers Association (WAPTEMA), being the leading member. He currently serves as the Chairman of WAPTEMA.
political journey
In 2011, when Arvind Kejriwal along with several other activists along with Anna Hazare formed the India Against Corruption (IAC) group, it caught Singh’s attention and he started participating in the movement, sparking his interest in social activism. Hui. IAC demanded implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill, which would result in a stronger Lokpal.
This campaign evolved into the Indian anti-corruption movement of 2011. One of the major criticisms directed at Jan Lokpal activists was that they had no authority to dictate terms to elected representatives. As a result, Arvind Kejriwal and other activists including Singh decided to enter politics and contest the elections. In November 2012, he formally launched the Aam Aadmi Party. Jarnail Singh was appointed in-charge of the AAP Punjab unit ahead of the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.
Delhi elections
In December 2013, the newly formed Aam Aadmi Party contested the elections for the first time and thus Jarnail Singh won the elections and became the “youngest Sikh MLA” of the Delhi Assembly. He defeated Rajeev Babbar, son of 3-time MLA OP Babbar, by more than 2000 votes. In the same year Jarnail was elected as the Chairman of the District Development Committee. AAP’s minority government was dissolved 49 days after the 2013 elections and a period of President’s rule began. In 2015, he was appointed the first president of AAP youth wing. Singh was again elected as MLA for Tilak Nagar in the subsequent elections in February 2015 and 2020.
