The Congress party on Friday announced its decision to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections alone, ruling out any alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav said that the party will contest all 70 seats in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on its own. He made it clear that there will be no alliance with any party in the elections. Yadav further said that the decision regarding the chief ministerial candidate will be taken by the Congress Legislature Party after the elections.

Earlier this month, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had compared the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections to a ‘Dharmyuddha’ similar to the Mahabharata. “Delhi Assembly elections are like a ‘Dharmyuddha’. They have immense wealth and power like the Kauravas, but God and the people are with us like the Pandavas,” the former CM said in an address at the district level. Meanwhile, Delhi BJP on Thursday (November 28) announced 43 committees for assembly election-related work, including campaigns for women, youth, SC, OBC and contacting beneficiaries of central schemes.

The names of the committee members were announced as per the instructions of BJP State President Virendra Sachdeva. Committees were formed for various election-related tasks, including nominations, media relations, suggesting the campaign narrative, social media, documentation, data management, special contacts and logistics, etc. Legislative Assembly elections for all 70 constituencies of Delhi are scheduled to be held on or before February 2025. The last assembly elections were held in February 2020. After the elections, Aam Aadmi Party formed the government in the state and Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister for the third time. The tenure of the 7th Delhi Assembly is scheduled to end on 15 February 2025.
