Maharajganj police station and SWAT team of Balrampur district in Uttar Pradesh on Monday arrested a criminal accused of sheep theft. A police officer gave this information.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikas Kumar said that the police and SWAT team have arrested Naresh Sonkar, a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000, in the Maharajganj police station area of the district.
Inter-district rewarded criminal Sonkar has 17 cases registered against him in various sections including robbery, attempt to murder and theft in Gonda, Shravasti and Balrampur districts. SP said that strict action will be taken against the arrested criminal by imposing Gangster Act.
SP said that the incident of theft of 50 sheep was carried out by Naresh Sonkar and his gang from near Shivnagar Canal of Maharajganj Terai area. He told that today the police team arrested the main leader of the gang, Naresh Sonkar, resident of Khatki Purva, Shravasti district and recovered 11 pairs of stolen nettles, four rings etc. from his possession. SP said that advance legal action is being taken in the matter.
