A woman was murdered in a field near Kanjara village on Wednesday morning, following which her father lodged a complaint at Karhal police station against Prashant Yadav, a resident of Nagariya, Tapa, accusing him of kidnapping his daughter. Mainpuri district police on Wednesday arrested two people accused of kidnapping and murder of the woman. In the FIR, the man alleged that his daughter was kidnapped around noon on Tuesday and Yadav later killed her by poisoning her with the help of another person named Dr Mohan Katheria. Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar said that both the accused named in the FIR, Dr. Mohan Katheria and Prashant Yadav, have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
The issue soon turned into a political controversy and a heated exchange broke out between the BJP and SP. Expressing concern over the incident, BJP accused SP of ‘creating an atmosphere of terror’ in its stronghold. BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said that the entire Uttar Pradesh is watching the dark deeds of the red cap people. Samajwadi Party is crossing all limits of hooliganism. He claimed that Saifai family and Akhilesh Yadav’s goons are again trying to spread terror in Mainpuri.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak wrote that the murder of a Dalit daughter in Karhal, Mainpuri by a Samajwadi Party worker and his associates is a very sad and highly condemnable act. He said that this is the real face of Samajwadi Party, it can stoop to any extent for self-interest and power interest. The victim’s family members say that the daughter was murdered only because she had refused to vote for the Samajwadi Party. This murder is not just the murder of a daughter but the murder of democracy. I assure the victim’s family that strict action will be taken against the culprits by the Uttar Pradesh government. No culprit will be spared.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the panic and frustration of the Samajwadi Party is clearly visible in the by-elections. The brutal murder of Dalit daughter in Karhal has exposed the hooliganism and dark deeds of SP. Fake voting, deployment of outside anarchists and baseless allegations against the Election Commission are part of SP’s ‘politics of plunder’. SP is just an army of goons, mafias, rioters and murderers. The people of Uttar Pradesh have always rejected this misgovernance. Now democracy will prevail, not plunder.

Meanwhile, SP president Akhilesh Yadav, during a press conference in Lucknow, alleged that the Election Commission was turning a blind eye to the complaints being made by his party on the alleged misuse of government machinery by the BJP to tilt the by-elections in its favour. Not listening. SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said, “This is a conspiracy by the BJP to defame the Samajwadi Party, which is often involved in such activities. It has nothing to do with the SP.”
