Protesters sitting in Delhi Shaheen Bagh in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have been removed. The tents on the road have also been removed amidst heavy police force deployment. People demonstrated during the police action. Police informed that the tents have been uprooted after removing the protesters. Some were also detained. Women were performing in Shaheen Bagh for the last 100 days. There is a lockdown in more states of India including Delhi due to Corona virus.
Joint CP Devesh Srivastava said, “People were being appealed due to the rise of Corona virus. The locals were also demanding from us. This morning we started this action at seven o’clock. Initially, some mischievous elements wanted to disturb the atmosphere. If they do not agree, they have been detained. ‘ Srivastava said that about 10 to 12 people have been detained. He said that our aim is to restore peace in the area. There were strict orders about Corona not to gather the crowd. Explain that section 144 is applicable in Delhi in view of Corona virus.
The Delhi Police had on Monday appealed to the people to stay indoors and move out in an emergency to curb the rapidly spreading corona virus. Lockdown is in force till midnight of 31st March in Delhi. The Delhi Police has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC in the national capital in view of the outbreak of Corona virus, which prohibits demonstrations and meetings.
Section 144 prohibits four or more people from getting together. Apart from social media, the police are also requesting people to maintain social distance through loudspeakers. Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Narendra Bundela said that the Delhi Police has initiated strict vigil to keep the public safe by ensuring compliance with the instructions of the government.
