A meeting of the Congress Working Committee was held today in connection with the violence in the northeastern part of the capital Delhi. It was decided in the meeting that Congress leaders would march to Rashtrapati Bhavan to normalize the situation in violence affected Delhi and demand peace. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were present in the meeting. The meeting paid tribute to those who died during the violence.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made a tweet about the violence. Kejriwal has described the situation as worrying and has also written a letter to the Home Ministry. He tweeted, “I was in contact with many people throughout the night. The situation is worrisome. Police, despite all efforts, have failed to handle the situation and instil confidence. “The army should be called and curfew should be imposed with immediate effect in the rest of the affected areas.” I am writing to the Honourable Home Minister in this regard.”
The responsibility to control the violence has been entrusted to the country’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Doval will now control the violence spread in different areas of the state in its own way. Doval will submit his report directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Cabinet. In view of the violence, Union Minister Amit Shah has met for the third time in 24 hours.
