It rained in parts of the national capital on Friday morning. The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain for the day. Meteorological Department officials said that due to the active western disturbance and its interaction with easterly winds, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are continuing over northwest and central India including Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR). The Safdarjung-based observatory, the primary weather station in the national capital, recorded 1.8 millimeters (mm) of rain between 2:30 am and 5:30 am and 7.3 mm of rain since then till 8:30 am.
Palam weather station recorded 11.3 mm rainfall, while Lodhi Road recorded 6.8 mm and Pusa 5.5 mm. The weather department has predicted generally cloudy sky and light to moderate rain for the day. The minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius, which was 2.8 degrees above normal.
According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the air quality at 9 am was recorded in the ‘very poor’ category at 372. The 24-hour air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 345 at 4 pm on Thursday. AQI is rated between zero and 50 as ‘good’, 51 and 100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 as ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 as ‘poor’, 301 and 400 as ‘very poor’ and 401 and 400 as ‘poor’. Between 500 is considered ‘severe’.
