Election Commissioner responded to the opposition’s allegations, CEC said – EVMs are 100 percent foolproof.

Before the Election Commission announced the election dates in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, opposition parties once again raised the issue of EVM malfunction. However, Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said on Tuesday that the public has answered the questions by participating in the voting. If they raise questions again today, we will tell them again.

Earlier, Congress leader Rashid Alvi had claimed that EVMs can be manipulated, citing the example of Israel hacking pagers of terrorist organization Hezbollah. He said that the opposition in Maharashtra should pressurize that voting should be done through ballot paper and not through EVMs. Otherwise, in Maharashtra, the BJP government and the Election Commission can do anything. He further said that if Israel can kill people using pagers and walkie-talkies, then where are the EVMs? PM has very good relations with Israel. Israel is an expert in such things. The big game of EVM can happen anywhere and for that BJP plays all these games before the elections.

Last week, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had submitted a memorandum to the ECI, and said he hoped the body would take cognizance of the issue and give appropriate directions. Party general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh wrote on social media platform X that on October 9, senior leaders of the Congress Party submitted a memorandum full of complaints to the Election Commission. Taking this forward, today we have given an updated memorandum, highlighting serious and clear irregularities in the election process in 20 assembly constituencies of Haryana. We hope that the Election Commission will take cognizance of this and issue appropriate instructions.
