Delhi Police has arrested a 32-year-old woman for stealing gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from a ‘social media influencer’ while taking pictures with her. The accused cunning woman committed this crime when she was posing for a photo with her. The woman was caught along with her husband from Manali in Himachal Pradesh and gold jewellery weighing 100 grams was recovered from her house in Haryana.
Insistence on meeting on the pretext of taking a photo with the jewellery
The ‘social media influencer’ had approached the police alleging that she was robbed by a woman who claimed to be her fan on social media. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said, “On September 18, the woman insisted on meeting the complainant on the pretext of taking photos/videos with her expensive jewellery.” The two of them decided to meet at his office in Chattarpur, South Delhi. There, the woman asked him to pose in front of the camera wearing gold jewellery, following which the ‘social media influencer’ did so.
This is how the incident took place
“Meanwhile, while the man was busy on a call, the woman fled with his 100 gram gold jewellery,” the DCP said. “CCTV footage was checked and the woman was found to be in Manali. The team caught her in Manali and recovered the gold jewellery from her house in Jhajjar. Further investigation in the case is underway,” he added. (With Bhasha inputs)
