To further boost electronic toll collection, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to give FASTag free by February 29. The government has started FASTag based toll collection system on more than 527 national highways of the country. Earlier, NHAI gave NHAI fastags for free from 22 November to 15 December 2019.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement that in order to increase the digital toll collection through Fastag on the National Highway toll plaza, NHAI has decided to remove the fee of Rs 100 from NHAI Fastag by 15-29 February 2020. However, the minimum balance amount in the applicable security deposit and Fastag wallet will remain unchanged.
Can be taken for free through RC
It was further said that the vehicle owners can take the NHAI Fastag for free by visiting any authorized point of sale location of NHAI with their vehicle registration certificate. NHAI FASTags can be purchased from all National Highway toll plazas, regional transport offices, common service centers, transport hubs and petrol pumps etc.

The statement also said that car owners can download the MyFASTag app or visit www.ihmcl.com or call the 1033 NH helpline number to find their nearest NHAI FASTags point of sale locations.
