The government has relaxed the rules of FASTag at 65 toll plazas for some time as people pay cash on toll tax. On these 65 toll points, the routes with 25 percent fastag fee have been allowed to be converted into a mixed payment line for 30 days. Fastag system implemented from 15 December
This step has been taken at the request of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), so that the citizens are not inconvenienced. The government has implemented Fastag based electronic toll tax collection system on all toll plazas of NHAI from 15 December. Under this, cash payment has been banned on at least 75 per cent lane of the toll plaza.
At the toll plaza, cash payment will be arranged only on the maximum 25 per cent lane. These 65 toll plazas are located in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh and Andhra Pradesh.
Ministry called the relaxation temporary
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has written in a letter to NHAI Chairman SS Sandhu that up to 25 per cent of the ‘Fastag Lane of Fei Plaza’ can be temporarily converted to hybrid lanes as per the traffic conditions at these 65 toll plazas. . It will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
