The Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday announced an increase in the reservation quota allotted for women in government jobs. According to the information released, the government, which has given 33 percent reservation to women in government jobs, has increased it by additional 2 percent, taking the quota of women to 35 percent. Giving information about the government’s decision, Madhya Pradesh Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla said that this proposal has been approved during the briefing of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav today.
The Deputy CM said that reservation (for women) in all recruitments under government services in Madhya Pradesh has been increased from 33% to 35%. This decision was taken earlier, and it has been approved by the Cabinet today. He said that this is a big step towards women empowerment. It is noteworthy that while talking to the media, the Deputy Chief Minister also explained in detail about other major decisions taken during the cabinet meeting. Starting out, the Minister said that the Cabinet has approved the opening of 254 new fertilizer sales centers in the state.
He said that with the implementation of this decision, farmers will get relief from long queues and will get fertilizer easily on cash payment. Further, he said the Cabinet also approved setting up of 660 MW Critical Thermal Power Plant at Sarni by closing down previous power plant units totaling 830 MW units (two power plants of 205 MW each and two other plants of 210 MW each). Finally the Minister also informed that the Cabinet has given permission to increase the age of recruitment of Assistant Professors in Medical Colleges in the State from 40 years to 50 years.
