The Government of West Bengal started the “Kanya Shree Prakalpa Yojana” in the year 2013. Under this scheme, the government grants scholarships up to 25 thousand rupees to school girls.
The scheme aims to improve the education level of girls, prevent female feticide, promote the birth of daughters and empower women.
According to media reports, recently, Mamta Banerjee said that about 67 lakh girls have been empowered by the Kanyashree Yojana. The benefit of this scheme is to encourage adolescent girls to study and improve their health and condition.
Only girls get the benefit of this scheme. Socially and economically weaker families get benefits under this scheme. Under this scheme, girls between the ages of 13 and 18 get a lump sum of Rs. 25,000 as well as one thousand rupees as annual scholarship.
To avail this scheme, your residence certificate, all school certificates, age proof, income certificate, Aadhaar card, bank details will have to be given.
