Party state spokesperson Mukund Kirdat said that AAP is part of the India Bloc at the national level and will help its member parties in defeating the BJP. Therefore, AAP will not contest the 2024 assembly elections in Maharashtra.

Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) decided not to contest the assembly elections in Maharashtra to avoid a repeat of the Haryana election result. Kejriwal will campaign for the India alliance in assembly seats where AAP has a volunteer base and where MVA candidates do not have any controversial background. Rajya Sabha MP Singh said in an exclusive conversation that party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will campaign for MVA candidates in Maharashtra elections. Aam Aadmi Party will not contest elections in Maharashtra.

Party state spokesperson Mukund Kirdat said that AAP is part of the India Bloc at the national level and will help its member parties in defeating the BJP. Therefore, AAP will not contest the 2024 assembly elections in Maharashtra. A statement issued by AAP said that Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SCP) and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) have offered seats to AAP to contest the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

After contesting the assembly elections alone in Haryana, AAP failed to make any inroads there as efforts to form an alliance with the Congress failed. According to political observers, vote division between AAP and Congress helped BJP win more. A political observer said, “As a result, the BJP was successful in forming the government despite anti-incumbency.” During the last elections, AAP had fielded candidates on 46 of the 90 seats in Haryana, while it had contested 24 seats in Maharashtra. The party had contested almost all the seats in Haryana in the recent elections.
