New Delhi: There is a serial killer in India who killed 70 people just for fun. That person used to hit people’s temples with a hammer and his victims would lose their lives. Due to this misdeed of killing people by attacking their temples with a hammer, the person was named ‘Kanapatimar Shankaria’, whereas his parents had named him Shankar. ‘Kanapatimar Shankaria’ is the most brutal serial killer in the history of independent India and is also included among the most dangerous murderers in the world.
‘Kanpatimar’ was born in Jaipur
Kanpatimar Shankaria was born in 1952 in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Not much is known about his early life. People started knowing about Shankaria in the 1970s when dead bodies of people with injuries on their temples were found in Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. In the 70s, the fear of a murderer who committed suicide by hitting the temple with a hammer had spread across a large area. It is said that he used to sit covered with a blanket and attack his prey suddenly. Within a few months, Shankaria had killed 70 people.
‘He used to kill people just for fun’
Kanpatimar Shankaria was finally caught and what was revealed during the interrogation shocked everyone. Kanpatimar Shankaria had said that he killed people just for fun. In 1979, the charges of murder of 70 people against serial killer Kanpatimar Shankaria were proved. He was hanged on 16 May 1979 in Jaipur. However, before hanging himself, Shankaria was regretting his brutality. His last words before being hanged were, ‘I took people’s lives unnecessarily. No one should be like me.
