Expressing his views on the book “Artihat Nationalism”, Governor Shri Shukla said – Literature plays an important role in building national character. When a man, rising above his personal interests, gives importance to his nation and is ready to serve it whole-heartedly, then national character emerges. Literature has the ability to shape thoughts and bring change and this ability is visible in the writings of Dr. Neerja Madhav. In his presidential address, Director of Inter University Teacher Education Center, BHU, Prof. Prem Narayan Singh said–Dr. In a total of 14 chapters of the book titled ‘Arthaat Nationalism’, Neerja Madhav has presented a concise description on various aspects of nationalism with utmost authenticity, which will be useful for the education world, society and humanity.
In his written address, Dr. Neerja Madhav said that without nationalism coming into existence, a person cannot be a humanitarian and thus cannot be an internationalist either. Nationalism is an emotional feeling of the citizens of any country towards their country, which they have inherited in the same way as they have inherited the country’s natural resources, culture, traditions etc. With the advent of the 21st century, efforts were being made by some extremists to give a narrow and communal form to nationalism, then it came to mind that the basic form of nationalism should be revealed to the new generations and society. The result of that is nationalism.
The main speaker of the program was Prof. Ram Sudhar Singh said that just as Ganga, originating from Gangotri, flows in the mountains under various names and provides greenery to the plains, but its goal is the infinite ocean. Similarly, the source of Neerja ji’s literature provides pleasure to a large readership in the form of various genres like poems, stories, novels, essays, but everyone’s aim is to make every stream of their literature useful for this great nation with national and cultural thinking. Identity has to be surrendered. The canvas of Neerja ji’s writing process is very big. In her fiction she raises those topics which have remained mostly untouched till now. All his stories along with novels like Yamdeep, Geshe Jampa are proof of this. Dr. Madhav has his own clear vision regarding national and cultural thinking.
Special guest Prof. Referring to the challenges of globalization, Arvind Joshi clarified India’s broad cultural nationalism and said that the narrow and wrong interpretation of nationalism through the western lens is creating serious crisis. This work of Dr. Neerja is not only literary, but it plays an important role in understanding Indian nationalism.
