Hotel manager murdered in Himachal's Chamba, two policemen suspended

A case has been registered against two policemen for killing a hotel manager in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh and they have been suspended. Officials gave this information on Friday.

Officials said the accused have been identified as Anup Kumar and Amit Kumar, who are serving as police constables in Chamba district. The victim has been identified as hotel manager Rajinder Kumar.

According to the information received, the incident took place on New Year’s Eve, when three policemen had gone to a hotel in Banikhet, Chamba to celebrate the New Year and two of them had a scuffle with a hotel employee named Rajinder and Sachin. It was done.

During this scuffle, Rajinder Kumar, Anoop and Sachin fell down from the parking lot of the hotel built at a height and got injured. Anoop and Sachin’s bones were broken and Rajinder Kumar died.

After the incident, Rajinder’s family members demonstrated against the police and demanded action against the accused. They blocked the Pathankot-Chamba National Highway for a few hours disrupting traffic on the road.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Yadav assured them of strict action in this matter, after which the protest was stopped.

SP said that two accused police constables have been suspended. He told that the accused were posted in Chamba and were sent to Dalhousie for duty.

“While returning from his duty, he went to the hotel where the incident took place,” he said. We have also seen the CCTV footage, in which we can see that there was a scuffle.

He said that further investigation of the case is going on.
