Sukhu said the CID investigation was not about samosas, as the media portrayed, but it was to unearth misconduct by officials. He also said that the BJP’s attack against him on this issue was childish and the party has been running a defamation campaign against him since the Congress’ victory in the assembly elections.
A day after a controversy erupted over the CID probe into ‘samosa’ in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Friday clarified that an inquiry into the misconduct and misbehavior of some officials had been ordered. Sukhu said that the CID investigation was not about samosas, as the media portrayed, but it was to unearth the misconduct of officials. He also said that the BJP’s attack against him on this issue was childish and the party has been running a defamation campaign against him since the Congress’ victory in the assembly elections.
Let us inform that samosas and cake were brought from a hotel located in Lakkar Bazaar to serve to the Chief Minister who had gone to attend a function at the Crime Investigation Department (CID) headquarters on October 21. However, according to the investigation report conducted by a Deputy Superintendent of Police level officer, the food items were served to the security personnel due to lack of coordination.
Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit chief Satpal Satti claimed that the Congress government has become a laughing stock by ordering a ‘samosa investigation’. He said that instead of wasting their time on small matters, the police should focus on the numerous scams ranging from the Chief Minister’s Office to the Secretariat. It is surprising to investigate such a small matter and then call it an anti-government act. I think the Congress government is not concerned about the people, because their main concern is how samosas are being served in their functions. This government has completely failed and has become a laughing stock.
