As the campaign of political parties is gaining momentum in the Jharkhand Assembly elections. Anyway, the issue of Muslims has also started heating up in the state. Big leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party are continuously fanning this issue on one pretext or the other. Nishikant Dubey, Lok Sabha MP from Godda in the state, has said that 11 percent of the Muslim population of the state is ‘Bangladeshi infiltrators’. He said that in the year 1951, the Muslim population was 9 percent. But today this population in the state is 24 percent. The Muslim population in the country has increased by 4 percent, but the Muslim population in Santhal Pargana has increased by 15 percent. Dubey said that these are 11 percent Bangladeshi infiltrators, who are being adopted by the state government.
When the election atmosphere was gaining momentum in Jharkhand, PM Modi had raised the issue of Muslim infiltration in BJP’s Parivartan rally in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. During this, he had said that infiltration of Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshis has emerged as a real threat for Santhal Pargana and Kolhan. Along with this, PM Modi had alleged that JMM, Congress and RJD have maintained silence on this issue for the sake of vote bank. PM Modi had raised this issue even during the Lok Sabha elections, after which BJP did not let this issue rest.

After PM’s statement, many other BJP leaders including Amit Shah, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Himanta Biswa Sarma raised this issue. It was also said that if BJP government is formed in the state, then NRC will be implemented here. It has been 24 years since Jharkhand was formed. Out of which BJP has ruled the state for 13 years. But the problem of the party in the state is that it is losing tribal votes. In such a situation, it is believed that Bharatiya Janata Party is playing the Muslim card to deal with this situation.
Politics is being done in the name of Muslims in the state. BJP has been accusing the ruling coalition of appeasement. But Muslims have always been marginalized in politics. Ever since this state was formed, the political status of Muslims has decreased instead of increasing. In the 2019 assembly elections, Congress gave the least number of votes to Muslim candidates as compared to the previous elections. The situation this time is also no different.
