In the jail of Shahjahanpur district, a British female prisoner named Ramandeep Kaur has also kept a fast during Navratri while worshiping the Mother Goddess. Ramandeep Kaur was sentenced to death by the court in the year 2023.

According to the jail superintendent, when the Muslim prisoners were asked why they kept the fast, the prisoners said that all Gods are one and that is why they kept the fast. Jail Superintendent has said that a total of 217 prisoners have observed Navratri fast in the jail. Of these, 29 Muslims, some Sikhs and 17 women also kept fast. During this period, apart from fruits, 750 grams of boiled potatoes, 500 grams of milk and fruits were given to the prisoners to eat daily.
