India alliance split on Adani issue, SP-TMC kept distance from Congress's protest
The opposition walked out of the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Issues like the conviction of Gautam Adani by US prosecutors in the bribery case and Sambhaal violence are being raised by the opposition in the winter session. This development has come to light at a time when a day earlier an agreement was reached between the government and the opposition for the smooth functioning of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. However, the rift in the India faction came out into the open on Tuesday when Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party did not join the joint opposition protest in the Parliament complex over the Gautam Adani bribery case. While opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and some Congress allies joined the protest.

On TMC not joining India Alliance’s protest in Parliament on Adani issue, TMC MP Samik Bhattacharya said that you can see the condition of the alliance. Sometimes TMC disappeared and sometimes Aam Aadmi Party disappeared. Wherever Congress goes to the people, the people reject them. Congress now has only one option, Parliament Gate or not allowing the House to function. He said that this is the agenda of Congress. No one knows when and where TMC will go. Mamata Banerjee wanted Mallikarjun Kharge to become the face of this alliance. He had proposed to make him the PM of the country. TMC is no longer included in Mallikarjun Kharge’s call. This is all drama now. They are damaging the dignity of democracy.
Congress MPs were seen holding placards that read, “Modi-Adani are one” and “India demands accountability on Adani”. Meanwhile, the opposition walked out of the Lok Sabha as issues like Adani impeachment and Sambhaal violence continued to impact the proceedings of Parliament in the winter session. This development has come to light at a time when a day earlier an agreement was reached between the government and the opposition for the smooth functioning of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

On the winter session of Parliament, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that we are going to cooperate in the House from this morning, yet there was a kind of shelling as a protest before we could debate and participate in the parliamentary processes. Essentially, we are ending the protests that have been going on for the last 6 days in Parliament. Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain said that we want discussion on many issues. One is, JPC on Adani issue and discussion on it. There is Sambhal issue, there is Ajmer issue, there is Bangladesh issue, there is Manipur issue. There are a lot of issues. But the government is not allowing us to discuss these issues. As soon as we take Adani’s name, they adjourn the proceedings.
