Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina said that BJP will never accept this agenda of National Conference and Congress. BJP will never allow Article 370 to come back in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution asking the Center to hold talks with elected representatives for the restoration of Article 370, which gives special status to the Union Territory. Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary moved the proposal to restore the special status of the erstwhile state, which was revoked by the Center on August 5, 2019. The resolution moved by Chaudhary said that this Legislative Assembly reaffirms the importance of the special status and constitutional guarantees that protect the identity, culture and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and expresses concern over their unilateral removal .
The resolution said the process should protect both national unity and the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Soon after the proposal was tabled, BJP members, including opposition leader Sunil Sharma, said it was not part of the listed business. “This Act has been passed by the biggest temple of democracy (Parliament) in the country,” he said. This followed an uproar among the ruling party, with even BJP members tearing copies of the resolution and throwing the pieces into the well of the House. Assembly marshals stopped Langate MLA Sheikh Khurshid when he tried to enter the Well.

It is clear that Article 370 has become history and it can never come back. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said that today PDP has proved that numbers do not matter. When the opposition is strong, it can force the majority government to fulfill the aspirations of the people and the commitments made to the public. This is the result of PDP’s hard work. The resolution does not say that Article 370 should be restored but rather it has been said that there should be a discussion on it…after the discussion we can bring amendments in this resolution.
