There is a government school in Godda district of Jharkhand where mid-day meal is prepared by burning books. There is neither a cylinder nor a stove in the school. A video of a cook preparing mid-day meal by burning his books has also surfaced, which is going viral on social media.
A video has surfaced from a school in Boarijore area of Godda district which raises questions on the education system in Jharkhand. This case pertains to the government-run middle school, Lohandiya Bazar, where mid-day meals were prepared by burning the books used for children’s studies. This incident is extremely worrying and is a clear proof of the negligence of the education department. In the video, the lady cook is seen preparing mid-day meal by burning the books, she also has a couple of school children who are helping in tearing the books.
State government’s claims exposed
The state government claims that the government has made arrangements for gas cylinders and stoves in schools for cooking, so that kitchen work can be safe and environment friendly. Despite this, food in this school is being cooked by burning wood and books. In such a situation, the question arises that whose negligence is it? Who allowed the cook to be so negligent? Have all the arrangements really been made by the government in the school or is this the result of the apathy of the administration?
Teacher was missing from school
Many questions arise because this is not only an insult to education but also playing with the future of those children who dream of improving their lives through these books. Here questions also arise on the role of teachers. It is also the responsibility of the teachers and other employees there to stop this work. But everyone from teachers to students were seen missing in the school. Students were seen in only a few classes, that too without teachers.

People have demanded that this matter should be thoroughly investigated and the culprits should be punished. This incident not only highlights the flaws in the education system but also shows how the negligence of the administration can jeopardize the future of children. There is a need for the administration to take immediate action on such matters, so that the future of children is protected and the respect for education can be maintained. Continuous efforts were made to contact District Education Officer Mithila Tudu on the entire matter. But the officer could not be contacted in any way.
