Darul Uloom Deoband rejected Waqf bill

A meeting of the JPC regarding amendment in the Waqf Bill was held today. In this meeting, the delegation representing Darul Uloom Deoband rejected the Waqf Bill. If sources are to be believed, Maulana Arshad Madani spoke for about 2 hours in the meeting on behalf of the delegation. Maulana Arshad Madani said during this time, ‘If this amendment comes then the places of worship of Muslims will not be safe.’ Arshad Madani said, ‘There are so many old mosques and places of worship in the country that even after hundreds of years, it is difficult to tell who is their waqf. There are many major flaws in this amendment, the intention behind bringing it is not right.

Christian MPs opposed the amendment in Waqf

Let us tell you that currently the Waqf Amendment Bill is with the JPC. In this case, there was a possibility that the Central Government could pass this bill during the winter session of Parliament. However, this has not happened yet. On the issue of Waqf Board, Christian MPs of the country have decided to support Muslims. Christian MPs told the Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) meeting that the Christian community should take a principled stand on the Waqf Bill as it affects the rights of minorities enshrined in the Constitution.

20 MPs took part

Let us tell you that CBCI, the largest organization of Catholics in India, had called a meeting of all Christian MPs on 3 December. A total of 20 MPs participated in this meeting, most of whom were from opposition parties. The MPs attending the meeting included TMC parliamentary party leader Derek O’Brien, Congress MP Hibi Eden, Dean Kuriakosa, Anto Antony and CPIM MP John Brittas. However, later Union Minister of State George Kurien also attended the meeting. Let us tell you that such a meeting was organized by CBCI after decades. It was organized by CBCI President Archbishop Andrews.
