Kerala: One person arrested for giving false news of bomb in Air Arabia flight

A person has been arrested for making a fake bomb threat on an Air Arabia flight from Karipur International Airport to Abu Dhabi. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Ijaas (26) of neighboring Palakkad district. According to Karipur police, on Tuesday evening the airport director received an email from Ijaas, in which it was claimed that a bomb had been planted in the Air Arabia flight from Kozhikode to Abu Dhabi.

Police said that based on the complaint by the airport authorities, an immediate investigation was launched to identify the source of the threat and Ijas was eventually caught with the help of cyber police.

“We immediately took him into custody from the airport,” a police officer said. Actually, he was about to board the same flight to Dubai. He admitted his crime and said his only intention was to get the flight cancelled.”

He told that Ijaas was facing some financial problems and he did not want to go to Dubai. “The accused claimed that he had to book the plane ticket under pressure from his friends,” the officer said. He wanted to cancel the trip and hence sent a false bomb threat…”

He said that an FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Civil Aviation Act, Indian Judicial Code and Kerala Police Act. The officer said that after his arrest he was produced before the court on Wednesday.
