Bharatiya Janata Party has released the list of its candidates for Maharashtra Assembly elections. Among the declared 99 candidates, the party has also given ticket to former CM Ashok Chavan’s daughter Shrijaya Chavan. Shree Jaya will try her luck from her family’s traditional seat, Bhokar. Bhokar on a seat on which lotus has never bloomed till now i.e. BJP has never been able to win. In the 2019 elections, this seat was with the undivided Shiv Sena but the Shiv Sena candidate was at third position. So his father and former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan had won from this seat by more than 1 lakh seven thousand votes.
Chavan had resigned before the Lok Sabha elections.
This seat had become vacant after former Congress leader and current Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Chavan joined BJP. Bhokar seat is a stronghold for former CM Ashok Chavan, who comes from a powerful political family of Maharashtra. From where his father Shankarrao Chavan had earlier won the election. Even after this, apart from Congress and Independent, one NCP won this seat, but this seat has never gone to the BJP-led opposition camp.
Ashok Chavan’s wife became MLA in 2014
Former CM Ashok Chavan’s father Shankarrao Chavan, who was the Chief Minister, currently holds the Bhokar Assembly seat. Apart from him, Ashok Chavan’s wife Ameeta has reached the assembly after winning Ashok Rao Chavan. Now daughter Shreejay Chavan has entered politics. Shreejaya is an advocate by profession. His father has been active in this field for a long time. After her father left Congress, Srijaya also joined BJP. Putting up a picture of mother Ameeta with her grandfather and father, Shrijaya Chavan has written that tradition of public service, testimony of development. That means Chavan family has been serving Bhokar for years and development is its symbol.
Two daughters of MP Ashok Chavan
Ashok Chavan is the father of two daughters. Their names are Sujaya and Shreejaya. Chavan loves his daughters very much. Once Ashok Chavan had expressed his love for his two daughters through a poem by Mike Quinn. Shok Chavan’s daughter Srijaya participated enthusiastically in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. She also walked for a few kilometers with Rahul Gandhi in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
