This election will be held in a single phase across the state on November 20, while the counting of votes will be done on November 23. After the recently concluded elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, all eyes are on the assembly elections in Maharashtra. For which all the parties have completed their preparations. For this, Bharatiya Janata Party has strengthened its preparations and fielded its veteran leader and current MLA Chandrakant Patil from Kothrud seat.
Kothrud Assembly Constituency – 210 of Maharashtra is one of the 288 constituencies of Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly. Which is a constituency of Pune district. As per the composition of constituencies as per Lok Sabha and Assembly Constituency Delimitation Order, 2008, Kothrud constituency consists of ward numbers 43 to 58, 161 and 162 of Pune Municipal Corporation. Kothrud assembly constituency comes under the Pune Lok Sabha constituency. Chandrakant (Dada) Bachchu Patil of Bharatiya Janata Party is the current MLA of Kothrud Assembly Constituency. Chandrakant Balbhim Mokate had won from this seat in 2009. After that, only BJP candidates have been winning this seat for the last two times.

According to the data of 2019, there are 3 lakh 90 thousand 458 voters in Kothrud seat which comes under general category. SC-ST voters play an important role in this seat. SC-ST voters here are around 37 thousand. The number of Muslims on this seat is around 9 thousand. At present he is also holding the post of current minister. BJP has once again expressed confidence in him. Now it remains to be seen whether Chandrakant Patil wins once again or the opposition succeeds in making some move.
Introduction of Chandrakant Patil
Chandrakant (Dada)’s aim is to move forward taking the people with him. Born on 10 June 1959 in a Maharashtrian family, he grew up in a small area of ​​Mumbai. His desire to serve the nation started at the age of 18 and his passion transformed him from a mill worker’s son to a driving force behind the rise of the state. Popularly known as Chandrakant Dada, his people-friendly behavior earned him great prestige among the people. With a determination to serve the people selflessly, his thought leadership and excellent intellectual analysis has been the guiding force behind improving the lives of farmers as well as the development of rural Maharashtra.
He has been actively involved in politics since 2004 and is a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2004 he was the general secretary of the Maharashtra unit. In 2008, he was elected Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from Pune Graduate Constituency and later became the Deputy Speaker after winning his second term in 2014. He has been the Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra since 2014 and was heading the ‘Cooperation, Marketing, Textiles and Public Works’ department. Since July 2016, he has been responsible for the department of ‘Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, and Public Works’ (except Public Undertakings). On 29 July, he was appointed President of Maharashtra BJP.
As a Cabinet Minister, he has always emphasized on quick decision making and effective implementation of processes. He believes in giving top priority to public interest and maintains transparency in all his endeavours. He has a vision to improve the infrastructure of the state, improve the lives of farmers, make the state eco-friendly, contribute to the digital economy of the state, create more employment opportunities in the tourism sector and empower villages. His list of achievements includes announcing a pension scheme for journalists, contributing to the ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ initiative dedicated to martyrs and appealing for a loan waiver scheme to benefit farmers.
