Maharashtra: Election Commission received 6,382 complaints of code of conduct violation

The Election Commission received 6,382 complaints related to violation of the Model Code of Conduct in Maharashtra in a month and all but one complaint has been disposed of.

In a statement issued by the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office on Thursday, it was said that these complaints were filed on the Election Commission’s ‘C-Vigil App’ between the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) i.e. between October 15 and November 14. were recorded through.

‘C-VIGIL’ is a mobile app developed by the Election Commission through which citizens can complain about violations of the model code of conduct during elections.

The statement said that out of the total complaints received last month, 6,381 have been disposed of by the Election Commission. It said that when a complaint is filed, the concerned team investigates and takes appropriate action.

In the operations conducted since October 15, state and central agencies have seized goods worth Rs 536.45 crore, which include illicit cash, liquor, narcotics and precious metals, the statement said.

Assembly elections are to be held in Maharashtra on 20 November. This action is being taken to prevent voters from influencing their voting by giving them any kind of inducement.
