Ajit Pawar split NCP in June 2023. Asked about contesting against his uncle, who has won the seat seven times, Yugendra Pawar told ANI that he feels it is quite sad and unfortunate.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar filed nomination from Baramati Assembly seat on Monday. His nephew and Sharad Pawar’s grandson Yugendra Pawar is contesting from the same constituency. Yugendra Pawar has been made the candidate by NCP-SP. This time, Baramati seat will once again see a Pawar vs Pawar contest, because Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule had defeated Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar in the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year.

Ajit Pawar split NCP in June 2023. Asked about contesting against his uncle, who has won the seat seven times, Yugendra Pawar told ANI that he feels it is quite sad and unfortunate. Before filing nomination on Monday, Ajit Pawar held a road show and expressed confidence that the people of Baramati will give him the mandate this time too.

Ajit Pawar said that everyone has the right to contest elections. Whenever a candidate is fielded against me, I consider him as a strong candidate and campaign accordingly. This time also the people of Baramati will elect me and I have full faith in them. Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on November 20, while counting of votes for all 288 constituencies will take place on November 23. In the 2019 assembly elections, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56 and Congress 44 seats. In 2014, BJP had won 122 seats, Shiv Sena had won 63 seats and Congress had won 42 seats.
