Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: All employees working at establishments, businesses and other workplaces in Brihanmumbai limits will be given paid leave on November 20 to vote in the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024. Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said that for any violation of this directive, action will be taken against the employers and not the employees. The order from the District Election Officer states that the employees will not face any action in the form of salary deduction and instead action will be taken against the employers as per the Election Commission rules.

Employees will not have salary cut
It is stated in “Every person engaged in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment in the polling area where the election is being held and is entitled to vote in the State Assembly election, shall be entitled for holiday on the day of poll i.e. Wednesday, 20th November, 2024 Will be given. This rule will be applicable to all industrial groups, corporations, companies and institutions, industrial undertakings or other establishments etc.

District Election Officer and Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said in a release issued on Wednesday (November 6) that action will be taken as per the Election Commission guidelines if employers violate this directive.

Everyone should use the right to vote
With an aim to enable all eligible voters to exercise their franchise in Mumbai suburban and Mumbai city districts, Gagrani has implemented various initiatives to increase the voting percentage here. The release said that employers will have to give leave to their employees for voting on November 20 in their constituencies and this rule applies to all industrial sectors, corporations, companies and other establishments, ensuring that on this holiday The reason is that there should be no salary cut.
In cases where leave for the entire day is not possible due to exceptional circumstances, leave of at least four hours may be granted with prior approval from the District Election Officer, it said. According to Section 135 (B) of the Representation of the People Act, employees whose absence would endanger the public or their establishment will not be punished.
