In Parbhani district of Maharashtra, a doctor, distressed by the demand of Rs 1 crore from her husband and in-laws, committed suicide. Police gave this information on Wednesday. According to the FIR, Dr. Priyanka Bhumre married Nilesh Wharkate, a resident of Beed, in 2022.
About two months later, her in-laws allegedly demanded Rs 1 crore to open a hospital and started torturing her mentally and physically.
On the woman’s complaint, the police had registered a case of domestic violence against Nilesh, his parents, brother and sister in August this year. According to the FIR, the woman doctor then started living with her mother in Palam town of Parbhani district, but her husband and in-laws kept pressurizing her over phone for money.
At around 3 pm on Monday, Dr. Priyanka got a call and she went to the upper floor of her mother’s house. Later, a relative found him lying unconscious on the floor, with his scarf hanging from a hook on the ceiling.
The FIR states that he was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. According to this, acting on the complaint of Dr. Priyanka’s mother, Palam police has registered a case of abetment to suicide against the woman doctor’s husband and four relatives.
