Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district have seized gutkha worth more than Rs 32 lakh and arrested a person carrying the banned substance. An official gave this information on Friday.
The official said that based on information, police stopped two tempos near Soma Nagar area of Bhiwandi on Thursday morning and both the vehicles were found carrying boxes of gutkha. Gutkha containing tobacco and other harmful products can cause cancer. Gutkha is banned in Maharashtra.

Assistant Inspector of Bhoiwada Police Station S. B. Mahale said that the value of the seized gutkha was more than Rs 32 lakh. He said that investigation is being done to know from where the Gutkha was brought and where it was being taken.
