Cash worth Rs 63.47 crore, liquor worth Rs 33.73 crore, drugs worth Rs 32.67 crore, precious metals like gold and silver worth Rs 83.12 crore and freebies worth Rs 36.62 crore have been seized.
Liquor, drugs and precious metals worth Rs 252 crore, including cash, were seized in Maharashtra from October 15 to November 4. A top official gave this information on Tuesday.
The model code of conduct for the assembly elections to be held in the state on November 20 came into force on October 15. State Chief Electoral Officer S. Chockalingam said that over the last three weeks, Rs 63.47 crore in cash, Rs 33.73 crore of liquor, Rs 32.67 crore of narcotics, Rs 83.12 crore of precious metals like gold and silver and (related to voter inducement) Rs 36.62 crore were seized. Free items have been confiscated.
