Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Maharashtra president Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced on Friday that the swearing-in ceremony of the Mahayuti government will be held on December 5 at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the swearing-in ceremony. The announcement of the date comes amid a tussle between the three Mahayuti constituents BJP, NCP and Shiv Sena as the alliance has not been able to reach a final agreement on portfolio allocation in the next cabinet in Maharashtra.

The date and place of the swearing-in ceremony has been decided but the name of the next Chief Minister has not been announced yet. However, it is almost clear that the saffron party may prefer former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for the top post in the state. BJP MLAs, MPs, presidents of various cells and divisional presidents will be present in the swearing-in ceremony at Azad Maidan. 6,000-7,000 party workers and officials of Eknath Shinde’s party Shiv Sena will also participate in this program. 4000 workers from Ajit Pawar’s party NCP can come there. Azad Maidan has a capacity of 50 thousand people. Sources said that seating arrangements will be made for about 25,000 people.
Earlier, outgoing Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s announcement that he will accept the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the next CM, cleared the way for the next CM. He, Ajit Pawar and Fadnavis met Shah in Delhi on Thursday night and discussed the power-sharing agreement in the state. Shinde said he would fully support the BJP leadership’s decision on the name of the next chief minister, adding that he would not hinder the process. His announcement cleared the way for the BJP to name Devendra Fadnavis as CM for the third time.

Shiv Sena (Ubhatha) leader Ambadas Danve on Saturday said that in view of the current political situation in Maharashtra, no government will be formed in the state in the next eight days. In the assembly elections held in Maharashtra on November 20, the grand alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) retained power by winning 230 out of 288 assembly seats. BJP emerged as the largest party by winning 132 seats, while Shiv Sena won 57 and NCP 41 seats. However, even after the declaration of election results on November 23, government formation is being delayed as the Grand Alliance is yet to take a final decision on the name of the next Chief Minister.
